Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     5/4: 2 adult and 2 young SANDHILL CRANES were seen from Carncross Road.
     5/5: 4 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen on Railroad Road. 16 BLACK 
TERNS were seen at Tschache Pool.
     5/6: A female WILSON’S PHALAROPE was seen at the visitor’s center.
     5/7: 268 LEAST SANDPIPERS were counted in the new pool at the visitor’s 
center. Also seen were SOLITARY SANDPIPER, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, GREATER and 
LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SORA, and CERULEAN WARBLER.
     5/8: 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen from Carncross Road.


Derby Hill
------------

     Another slow week thanks to cold weather. TURKEY VULTURES and BROAD-WINGED 
HAWKS make up the bulk of the weeks 1919 birds. On 5/3 the seasons first 
LINCOLN’S SPARROW was seen and on 5/4 another SANDHILL CRANE FLEW OVER.


Phillip’s Point (Oneida Lake) Lake Watch
------------

     The weeks inclement weather seemed to bring more migrants along the lake. 
On 5/6 20 species of birds were seen including BLACK TERN, PARASITIC JAEGER, 
and all three SCOTERS. Other highlights of the week were BRANT and LONG-TAILED 
DUCK.


Oswego County
------------

     5/4: A female WILSON’S PHALAROPE was found in a wetland on Rt.49 west of 
Central Square.
     5/5: 65 species of birds were found at Sunset Bay Park including 17 
species of Warbler. A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen near Noyes Sanctuary. 
     5/6: A WHIMBREL was spotted near the Common Tern island on Oneida Lake in 
Constantia.
     5/7: 21 species of birds including 13 species of Warbler were seen at 
Sunset Bay Park. Seen with this group was the season’s first SWAINSON’S THRUSH.
     5/8: 14 species of Warbler were found at Sunset Bay Park.
     5/9: 16 species of Warbler were found at Sunset Bay Park
     5/10: A PROTHONATORY WARBLER and a BLACKPOLL were found at Three Mile Bay 
near the channels.


Onondaga County: 
------------ 

     5/7: 12 species of birds, including 7 warblers were seen at St. Mary’s 
Cemetary. 
     5/8: 53 species of birds including 2 ORCHARD ORIOLES were found at Green 
Lakes State Park. The following day a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found.


Madison County
------------

     Up to 6 species of Shorebirds including SOLITARY and both YELLOWLEGS are 
showing up at Ditchbank Road north of Chittenango.
