KING EIDER HARLEQUIN DUCK SANDHILL CRANE PURPLE SANDPIPER SNOWY OWL NORTHERN SHRIKE RED CROSSBILL PINE SISKIN Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 11/26: DUNLIN were seen at the Visitor’s Center. This was the only species of shorebird seen at the complex this week. SANDHILL CRANES were heard from East Road. Madison County ------------ 11/26: 3 RED CROSSBILLS were found on Muller Hill Road. 11/27: PURPLE FINCH and PINE SISKIN were found on Muller Hill Road. Cayuga County ------------ 11/23: A SNOWY OWL was seen on the west barrier beach at Fair Haven State Park. There have been no follow up reports. 11/28: The season’s first PURPLE SANDPIPER was seen from the east breakwall at Fairhaven State Park. Oswego County ------------ 11/26: At Derby Hill a NORTHERN SHRIKE, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and a KING EIDER were all seen. Jefferson County ------------ 11/26: A HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen on the St. Lawrence River at Cape Vincent.
