Hi all,

Last couple of days I have walked East Ithaca recreation way to work. It is
comparatively quiet, but for common birds.

Highlights of Thursday walks were a beautiful male RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD,
feeding on Jewel weeds. An insistently calling PLIEATED WOODPECKER. There were
many young begging birds that include Am. Goldfinches continuously asking "feed
me feed me"; lots of Chipping Sparrows following their parents; Several young
Robins begging for food and lastly a cute family of catbirds where the young
look so clueless they just blindly followed their parents but were very
adorable.

Now OT, I decided to go to Cape Cod and spend a day at "South Beach" as Marc
pointed out this is a heaven for shorebirds.
http://www.capecodbirds.org/SouthBeach/SouthBeach.htm Luckily someone else is
arranging a boat trip to this location on August 24 and I am doing that trip.
Now I have a question. What are the other locations on Cod for birding? I am
also interested in seeing mass migration of dragonflies, I hope it happens one
of the days I am at the Cod. Winds as predicted now, seem to be perfect at that
time, mostly north. Anyone else interested in joining me?

Cheers

Meena
