August 03, 2020

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     8/4: 9 Shorebird species including STILT SANDPIPER were seen from VanDyne 
Spoor Road.

     8/6: 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at Helmer Marsh north of Rt. 31.

     8/8: 9 Shorebird species including SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and STILT 
SANDPIPER were seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh.11 Shorebird species including 
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER were seen from VanDyne Spoor Road.

     8/9: A DUNLIN was seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh.

     8/10: AN immature LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen just after 7:00 am. at 
VanDyne Spoor Road and at 5:00 p.m at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. Same bird? A 
BAIRD’S SANDPIPER and a HUDSONIAN GODWIT were seen at Knox Marsellus Marsh.

     8/11: The HUDSONIAN GODWIT continues at Knox-Marsellus Marsh.







Cayuga County

------------




     RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS continue at the camping area at Fair Haven State 
Park.

     8/s: A BAIRD’S SANDPIPER was again seen at West Barrier Bar park.







Onondaga County

------------




     RED CROSSBILLS were see again many times at Shakham Road at Herlihey Road 
in the Morgan Hill State Forestnear the Cortland County line.

     8/4: A RUDDY TURNSTONE was seen from the West Shore Trail of Onondaga Lake.

     8/5: At least one SEDGE WREN continues in the Big Fields area of 

Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. One was heard again of the 7th.







Oswego County

     8/4: A WHIMBREL and a WILLET along with 2 SANDERLINGS were seen at the 
Sandy Pond Outlet on Lake Ontario.

     8/9: 2 SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS were seen at the Pond on Biddlecum Road north 
of Phoenix.







Madison County

------------




     8/5: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was again seen at the Great Swamp Conservancy 
north of Canastota.







Oneida County

------------




     8/8: 5 Shorebird species including SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER were seen at Delta 
Lake at the Main Street Fishing Access area.

     8/10: 3 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS continue at Verona Beach State Park on 
Oneida Lake.







Herkimer County

------------




     8/8: 2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were seen at Carter Road near the bridge 
north of Old Forge.







Extralimital

------------




     8/9: 2 SWALLOW-TAILED KITES were found after local reports were followed 
up at the corner of Kendall Creek Road and County Line Road in Albion , Orleans 
County. They were present yesterday and have been again reported today.
