September, 2020

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     9/8: A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was seen from Towpath Road.

     9/9: 4 BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCKS were seen in the Main Pool and were 
seen again on the 11th. 3 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen at Marten’s 
Tract.

     9/10: An EURASIAN WIGEON was seen at the Visitor’s Center and was seen 
through the 13th. sometimes moving to the Main Pool.A DICKCISSEL was heard 
along the Main Drive. Also found were 11 Shorebird species and 11 Warbler 
species.

     9/12: A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen along the Wildlife Drive.







Cayuga County

     9/8: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was again seen at Fair Haven State Park.

     9/11: A HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen at West Barrier Bar Park in Fair Haven. 
Also seen there was a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER.

     9/13: A WESTERN SANDPIPER was found at West Barrier Bar Park in FairHaven.







Onondaga County

------------




     RED CROSSBILLS continue at the intersection of Shakham Road and Herlihy 
Road in the Morgan Hill State Forest.

     9/8: A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER wa found in Marcellus. A STILT SANDPIPER 
was seen and photographed from the West Shore Trail on Onondaga lake.

     9/9: 9 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at Barry Park in Syracuse.

     9/10: A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen on Shakham Road in the Morgan 
Hill State Forest.A DUNLIN was seen in the pool on New Seneca Turnpike north of 
Skaneateles.

     9/11: A SNOW GOOSE was seen at Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. A 
YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen at Baltimore Woods Nature Center in 
Marcellus.

     9/12: An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at Green Lakes State Park in 
Fayetteville.

     9/13: A RING-NECKED DUCK was seen in the Marshy Spits area of Onondaga 
Lake  south of the Honeywell Center. 2 SANDERLINGS and a PHILADELPHIA VIREO 
were seen at Oneida Shores County Park on Oneida Lake.







Oswego County

     9/9: 10 Shorebird Species including a BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were seen at the 
Sandy Pone Outlet on Lake Ontario.

     9/10: A RED PHALAROPE and a WHIMBREL were seen at the Sandy Pond Outlet.

     9/11: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at Sandy Island State Park on Lake 
Ontario.A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen at the Sandy Pond Outlet.

     9/12: 9 species of Shorebirds including a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, a 
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, a RUDDY TURNSTONE and a STILT SANDPIPER were seen at 
the Sandy Pond Outlet. Also seen was an early AMERICAN PIPIT.







Madison County

------------




     9/8: A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen at Ditchbank Road north of 
Canastota.

     9/9: A GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen on Mason Hill east of Hamilton.

     9/12: A LINCOLN’S SPARROW was seen on Peterson Hollow Road near Erieville.







Oneida County

     9/8: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen in the Kirkland Town Park south of 
Clinton.

     9/9: A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was seen at Hinkley Reservoir. It was 
relocated on the 13th. and is believed to have an injured wing

     9/11: A RUDDY TURNSTONE and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER were found at Delta 
Lake State Park in Rome. A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen at Kirkland Town Park 
south of Clinton.







Herkimer County

------------




     9/8: A PINE SISKIN was seen on the Bald Mountain trail north of Old Forge.

     9/9: 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen near Salidbury Corners north of 
Dolgeville.

     9/11: A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen on Partridge Hill Road near Trenton.

     9/12: A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen at Lake Roadaxe near Old Forge.
