No, you're not. i did as soon as i heard about it. nearly 7 months of hard
work on sp-v2 & about $16k worth of hardware on my own racks @ home, for the
first time i feel lost & let down by cisco. IpExperts is yet to announce
it's stratergy, but you see time & the tide will wait for no man. i had
planned to do the written on december & take the lab towards february 2k11,
& now i have changed the course from projet ccie-sp to project ny-lotto.
wish me luck, i'm serious.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm dropping this track altogether. There
is no chance of a lab seat before May 2011.
There is also no clear path to getting access to the gear necessary to
pass the SP track. As frustrating as it is to drop this track, I feel
like there is no other choice. Remote racks will not exist, if ever, for
quite some time. It's too expensive for any company to built out racks
with this kind of equipment.
Cisco got it very wrong this time.

Lab Equipment
• Cisco XR12000 Series Routers
Not a bad start champ. GDP of several island nations should cover this
one.
• Cisco 7200/7600 Series equivalent Routers (Using Simulator)
A 7200 might be available for about $20k, however this one can be
easily simulated. The 7600 is a completely different story. Dont
expect change from $30k each. This can not be simulated.
• Cisco ME3400E Series Switches
It does not get any better! :)
Software Versions
• XR12000 routers running IOS-XR Software Version 3.9.1
• 7200/7600 routers running IOS Software Version 12.2-33 SR
• ME3400E switches running IOS Software Version 12.2-54 SE
If you have a valid CCO contract, no dramas.
Good luck mate, but you really cant simulate this stuff and the lab
gear is beyond the budget of any business which is not fortune 100
listed.
