In OWLE Lab 4 there is a requirement to allow 4-digit dialing to Site A and
Site B from Site C, while Site C is in SRST mode. I always handle this with the
following config:

voice translation-rule 91051
rule 1 /^3...$/ /1408387\0/ type any international plan any isdn
rule 2 /^2...$/ /1202555\0/ type any international plan any isdn
voice translation-profile 91050
 translate called 91051
dial-peer voice 91050 pots
 translation-profile outgoing 91050
 destination-pattern [23]...$
 port 0/3/0:15

In the solution guide, it is handled in the following manner:

voice translation-profile 900
translate called 900
!
voice translation-rule 900
rule 1 // // type any international plan any isdn
!
dial-peer voice 900 pots
destination-pattern 9001..........
port 0/0/0:15
forward-digits 11
translation-profile out 999
num-exp 2...$ 90012025552...
num-exp 3...$ 90014083873...

Both options achieve the desired result but I am wondering if the latter option
is preferred for any technical reason.

Thanks in advance,

-Bill
