Hello, I presume that you are saying that knowledge of the location appliance is not necessary and important for the lab exam!! Are you also saying Cisco will not refer to it at all during the exam?

As for the wireless phone, that is listed as the Student's Home phone on the topology. This is very similar to the setup for the Voice lab rack, where the student has home phones that connect back to the rack over a VPN connection. There will be an IP phone in the rack itself for making calls, but there is really not an effective way of gaining the experience of configuring the phone itself without working on the phone directly. The Student's Home piece of the topology will also have an access point that the student will need to configure as part of the lab over that VPN connection. As for the location appliance, as Tyson stated, it didn't make sense to put in equipment that will be going away shortly. There will be MSEs in the rack once Cisco announces the move to the new version, which we presume will support the MSEs.
