I wonder if anyone has come accross this. Got this customer with 1142 he already patched to the ceiling. (which I normally don´t reccmend if it can be tested first...) DHCP for the AP is an issue. The ap simply does not get DHCP address from server. A PC connected to the same port gets an IP right away and can ping the controller immediately.
the port is: " switchport mode access switchport access vlan 30 spanning-tree porfast " its a 2960 poe switch connected to vlan trunk to a juniper router. We tried to get one AP on console and manually did "lwapp ap ip address" e.t.c and joned the controller manually and everything worked of course. Has anyone heard of such issues with 1142 out of the box ?. This is over layer3 and a Juniper router is forwarding the requests to a Cisco router on a remote subnet who is acting as the dhcp server. I wonder if there is some bug with shipped APs and software. I change the AP to dhcp again from WLC after registration but it still doesn´t get ip. Remember PC´s get an address with the same network configuration on the same switchport if plugged in. I read somewhere that vlan trunk and native vlan might help. But that didn´t work either. No discovery sent no ip address, which is normal. anyone had this problem ? regards.
