Thanks, There was nothing special ordered but a AIR-LAP1142.
But it still should get an dhcp ip no matter what options are working or not. We did a workaround with putting up dhcp scopes on the 2960's. And it worked well. There is something I can´t put my finger on regarding the dhcp forward through the juniper. If I was on site, I would collect a sniffer trace with the PC dhcp request that worked fine on the same port and the dhcp request from the AP that didn´t. But as I was helping guys through the phone, that would have taken too much time. Intersting issue. I wonder there is something specific with Cisco AP´s and Juniper even though no logic seems to apply. regards. If you AP's have been ordered with this option your DHCP server may not have this VCI configured and hence why it doesn't work. A quick debug of the DHCP request should show you if this is the problem. 2011/10/30 Kristján Ólafur Eðvarðsson <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> I wonder if anyone has come accross this. Got this customer with 1142 he already patched to the ceiling. (which I normally don´t reccmend if it can be tested first...) DHCP for the AP is an issue. The ap simply does not get DHCP address from server. A PC connected to the same port gets an IP right away and can ping the controller immediately. the port is: " switchport mode access switchport access vlan 30 spanning-tree porfast " its a 2960 poe switch connected to vlan trunk to a juniper router. We tried to get one AP on console and manually did "lwapp ap ip address" e.t.c and joned the controller manually and everything worked of course. Has anyone heard of such issues with 1142 out of the box ?. This is over layer3 and a Juniper router is forwarding the requests to a Cisco router on a remote subnet who is acting as the dhcp server. I wonder if there is some bug with shipped APs and software. I change the AP to dhcp again from WLC after registration but it still doesn´t get ip. Remember PC´s get an address with the same network configuration on the same switchport if plugged in. I read somewhere that vlan trunk and native vlan might help. But that didn´t work either. No discovery sent no ip address, which is normal. anyone had this problem ? regards.
