Here are some notes about the Office Extend 600 AP from the config guide:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11579/products_tech_note09186a0080b7f10e.shtml

Office Extend AP-600 Configuration Steps

The Cisco Aironet 600 Series OEAP will connect to the WLC as a Local Mode
Access Point.

Note: Monitor, H-REAP, Sniffer, Rogue Detection, Bridge and SE-Connect modes
are not supported on the 600 Series and are not configurable.

Note: Cisco Aironet 600 Series OEAP functionality in the 1040, 1130, 1140 and
3502i Series Access Points requires configuring the APs for Hybrid REAP
(H-REAP) and setting the sub-mode for the AP to Cisco Aironet 600 Series OEAP.
This is not done with the 600 Series because it uses local mode and cannot be
altered.

I don't have an 600 AP to try this out on but I hope the helps.

Tracy

Hi all, has anyone fiddled with OE 600 APs ? I have done OE on all other APs
that support OE but the 600 joins but I cant configure HREAP and OE mode
because the settings ate grayed out from WLC. I have WlC 2504 and 7.2 code .
The only difference on the AP list the 600 says UP but the others. (1230, 1140)
say reg..

the best tools according to my experience are from Airmagnet... you can use
their Survey Pro product following is the link:

Hi Waheed.

This depends very much if you plan to do a active or passive site survey.
Some years ago I used to use Cisco PCIMCA Aironet Card with the Cisco Site
survey utility.
That had passive and active options.

But today, I mostly do passive site surveys. As the customer usually doesnt
know what he wants exept for coverage :) unless there is a requirement for
voice over wireless. I tend to use the Cisco wifi phone site survey utility,
since it is generally a better idea to use and test the clients that will
actually be using the network.
If Cisco phones aren?t planned, there might be a need for a smartphone site
survey program.

in both cases I have been quite happy with Inssider from metageek
http://www.metageek.net/support/downloads/
its a passive survey tool but it is free and it works for smartphones aswell.
(search for wifi analyzer in android market for example) in this case I have
just printed out a floor plan of the project and used it to mark down signal
strength and quality.
it is some work but you tend to get quicker by time.

Some more advanced players reading thist post can probably tell you more about
tools such as AirMagnet or such tools that can have floor building added to it
and some really cool automation. But this is of course not free and will take
you some time to get the hang of it.

I would like to add, that I recently purchaced a 1400$ kit called Surveyor. It
is comes in a pelican case, packed down carrier, pole and a battery pack with
power inline to your site survey AP. This can be taken with you on the flight
aswell and doesn?t take much space and is set up in 5 minutes and packed in
less.
This has dramitcally decreased the survey time for me and I can highly
reccomend it. Even though it costs money you will get it back really quickly by
charging your customers for its use. Thats what I did and after 5-6 surveys it
already has paid off. Take a look at: http://www.castertray.com/surveyor.html
I even used this in a warehouse, where the battery pack was mounted on a
forklifter and the forklifter moved around with the anntennas during the
survey. Really cool stuff and makes the survey more fun, as it really wasn?t
before with all the hazzle of getting power, setting something together
yourself e.t.c

regards, Kristjan
