Hi Antonio,

I never had to look for such a solution, so I won't be able to give you an
exact model to work with.

But I used dd-wrt for many years before I could afford to buy some Cisco
routers and Aps ;)

I was using the Asus RT-N16 which comes with 32Mb of flash, and totally
supports USB drive. I was using JFFS and it worked great.

I think the 3G connections were supported with dd-wrt on this router.

You can also look at alternative releases like Tomato mods or openwrt. You can
find lots of modules to install with openwrt but you will certainly have to dig
into the Linux CLI. You need to already be comfortable with this, as the ...wrt
features can require advanced configuration.

Years ago I also worked with a Cisco router to add a 3G connection. It
automatically connected to the VPN connection of my company over the 3G to give
access to internal resources as a backup to the usual xDSL link. But I don't
think the captive portal was supported, unless using an external solution.

Keep us informed of the solution you will find, I'm interested ;)
