Since the topic of making movies has been raised, I have to chip in.

Most graphics programs can create a sequence of frames that, when
combined
together, show a rotating object. However, the procedure of combining
these
frames into a movie is problematic for people who are not aware of the
ridiculously fast and free program called "mencoder", which is a part of
MPlayer. Mencoder runs in linux, windows and osx:

It's not free, but you can pay Apple $40 and upgrade the free Quicktime
You can also use Framed which is absolutely free, and as EDU you only need to pay 29 bucks to Apple :-) The biggest benefit in my eyes to do this is H264 but if you think you don't need it go for the following program.

Framed and other easy to use tools can be found under www.versiontracker.com (also some for Windows, much more for Mac OS 9 & X.

Here's the direct link:

Player that comes with OS X to the full-featured Quicktime Pro, which
allows you to combine a set of images into a movie file. For the extra
money, you get a whole zoo of codecs (at least 20 last time I checked),
various quality, compression, and playback settings, and output to
quicktime, MPEG, AVI, and probably others. Of course, it only works on a
Mac...
