> Thus, we have noticeable flicker at stereo We dealt with flickering on our Linux stereo workstation a couple years ago; we were working with XFree86 instead of xorg, but my uninformed guess is that the approach is similar to that in our obsolete documentation, reproduced below: In the event of unsatisfactory flickering: Sometimes the stereo display will run at a refresh rate that causes flicker with fluorescent lights. In this case, you will need to set manual modelines for the display. Have the manual for the workstation's monitor available; you will need various monitor specifications. Setting modelines is documented in the XFree86 Timing HOWTO, http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/XFree86-Video-Timings-HOWTO/index.html However, you can probably skip directly to http://koala.ilog.fr/cgi-bin/nph-colas-modelines which will try to calculate the relevant modelines for you. You might have to adjust some of the input to get the modelines for the exact resolution you want. -- Michael Strickler, Ph.D. Research Specialist Center for Structural Biology Yale University 260 Whitney Ave, 355C JWG PO Box 208114 New Haven, CT 06520-8114
