Thanks to all of you who responded. Out of the 10 responses I got
for the survey, 7 people suggested that I get the automated crystal robot
first and then the automated imaging system (please see the attached .pdf
file for detailed comments). "Crystallization robot first; get results; can
convince grantees to fund for the imager afterwards".
One researcher correctly points out the advantage of the imager,
"Get the imager; use multi-channel pipetter for quick set-up; then use
imager; set-up is done once but observation done multiple times; automation
helps latter".
I have now requested quotes for the robots. Thanks for the valuable
