Post the traceback ??? It is there to help diagnose problems! Well, it might not help, but I can't tell from here ;-) First thing to check: do you need http_proxy setting? In any case, you should be able to bypass this bit by switching off database update in the GUI. But if there is a network problem, you'll get other problems.
