Hi Harry,
We experienced similar problems here a while back as a result of
switching to ldap authentication on x86_64 architecture. If this
sounds
like your situation I can advise further.
Aha! Now we are getting somewhere....
Yes, we are switching from NIS to LDAP, and this x86_64 machine
(Core 2 Duo) was our first one to use this method of authentication.
