*POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY - CYTOSKELETON*
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Protein
Structure Group at the University of New South Wales, Sydney,
Australia.The project (funded by NHMRC) is aimed at understanding the
coupling between the mammalian plasma membrane and the underlying
cortical actin cytoskeleton.The key focus is the protein ezrin linking
the membrane to F-actin (Jiang et al., 2014, /Biochim. Biophys. Acta/
1838:643-657).Our aim is to understand the mechanism of this coupling at
near atomic resolution via x-ray crystallography and single molecule
experiments.
We are looking for a candidate with expertise in structural biology
(particularly x-ray crystallography) including experience in molecular
biology, protein expression, purification and characterisation.Skills in
protein small-angle scattering and single molecule methods would be an
advantage.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be based at UNSW where we have
in house facilities for molecular biology, protein expression,
purification and characterisation. Our laboratory is fully equipped with
robotics for crystallisation and in house crystallographic data
collection. We have regular access to synchrotron sources. UNSW has
excellent facilities for proteomics and genomics.
Research Associate Level A - $85K -$91K per annum ( plus 17%
superannuation and leave loading) or Senior Research Associate Level B -
$105K - $112K per annum (( plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)
Fixed Term for two years with the possibility of extending to a third
year depending on funding.
