I also find the tension with the clear bands seem too tight. I use them anyway,
after giving them a few pulls past the elastic threshold. This causes them to
relax somewhat. The tension is still too tight after, but less. These clear
bands have some other operational characteristics that make me shy of long term
use, but for a couple uses they’re workable.

The sticking to the posts is has nothing to do with the plastiband, and is
catastrophic regardless of what band you use. It’s the result of the original
belt leaving adhesive residue on the tape surface, as a byproduct of its
chemical deterioration. If you run the tape, even once, it transfers
EVERYWHERE, and effectively the tape becomes a tar baby.

It’s not game over, but the project definitely goes from difficult to
nightmarish, if that happens.
