A quote misattribution above but that’s OK.

Most of the tapes I have are 3M and the few original bands left in them
disintegrate when touched. But I have a Sony-branded tape that still has a
good, original band.

When I first started working with old collections of QIC tape 10-15 years ago,
I was told sticky shed wasn’t an issue with QIC tapes and baking didn’t
accomplish anything. Is that no longer the case and I should start baking them?

As a side note, I recently acquired a reel-to-reel audio deck and will be
picking up a couple boxes of tapes from a friend this summer. I will be baking
those.
