More info:

From my LTSP-terminal I connected to the LTSP-server using nxclient. It worked fine!

So something is wrong when it runs directly through the LTSP setup.

I wonder if it is a network problem with host names... Through LTSP, CDE runs on server
but displays on terminal's X. With NX, nxclient draws its window on terminal's X, but the X
inside the window is the server's X. No?

Could the solution be connected with what is in terminal's /etc/hosts ?

Server's /etc/hosts lists the real server name and it's real IP

On the terminal, /etc/hosts has the following
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 ltsp123
10.0.0.1 server

where "server" is NOT the real server's name. It is just the word "server". And 10.0.0.1 is the
server's IP in the internal LTSP network.

This is the default of LTSP (at least in Ubuntu).

Could this be the problem with CDE on LTSP? And what must change?

Antonis.

None of these errors will stop CDE from starting, so I don't think that is it. The last time someone reported trying LTSP they reported the same issues you have. No one has found a solution.

Make sure you have the languages set (check the wiki). Not setting them will cause the build errors you saw but not building the docs shouldn't stop CDE from working.

The machine is listed in /etc/hosts (the name returned by hostname).

I checked ~/.dt/startlog and ~/.dt/sessionlogs/* (after I enabled
logging via .dtprofile)

I did not see anything strange. Some fonts not found and the Help is not
available (since it did not compile anyway).
I copy the contents of these files below.

It still freezes after a few seconds.
