Yes, IDE is moving along quite swiftly with 100 MB/sec
bandwidth and CRC for data integrity. The only SCSI
parallel bus with CRC is Ultra 160 (maximum 160 MB/sec
bandwidth) and I doubt whether any cd writers are using
that (yet).
Adaptec controllers do seem to be "ultra" sensitive to
cable quality and termination. In my experience other
SCSI adapters are more robust (in this respect).
