I have an Alpha 164SX with Teac CD-W58E. The burner works nicely, but I
have a bit of a problem: if I (for whatever reason, mostly by mistake)
abort the burning process (by hitting CTRL-C), the writer remains locked.
The LED light keeps on blinking, just as it does while buring, but I
cannot eject the media, nor can I reset the SCSI bus ('cdrecord -reset'
fails with a core dump - as it always does). Even more, 'cdrecord
-scanbus' reports CD-W58E to be a CD-ROM instead of CD-RW.
This state remains until reboot, which is bad as I cannot reboot my
machine too often (it's resources are somewhat shared).
Can I change anything about my Linux kernel configuration, or anything
else (apart from switching to SCSI, which I cannot) to change that
behaviour?
Thanks, D.
