Joerg,
Thanks much for the quick reply. Should I assume that the firmware bug in
Goldstar drives is also a bug in HP CD-RW drives?
I did notice that while the HP 9500 was listed as a supported drive on your
cdrecord website, your inquiry string had a firmware revision of 1.6 while
my firmware is at 1.4. To your knowledge, would upgrading to 1.6 help?
I did search perfunctorily for HP CD-RW drive firmware upgrades but found
nothing. Since you're working on a UNIX firmware upgrade tool, perhaps you
(or someone else on the list) know where I could find HP firmware upgrades
for their CD-RW products.
Alas, cdrecord is embedded in an application we use and that application is
currently setup to use cdrecord in TAO mode. While I could perhaps cajole
the developers to change the application to optionally work in DAO mode, it
would be far easier for me to get an ATAPI drive that works in TAO mode.
Thanks again,
Hal
