It is royalty free for DVD-Forum members and it is cheaper than DVD+* 
even for non DVD-Forum members.

Maybe this is the reason why there is no second source for the DVD+* 
technology.


Small companies like Plextor are in fear of the possibility that DVD+*
wins. If they start to develop DVD-* technology, they _may_ loose money,
if they develop DVD+* technology, they are forced to pay a lot of money 
for the DVD+* patents and cannot really eran money from the drives.
