I don't have it running 2xATAPI and 1xSCSI from an ATAPI disk source.
Everything on its own controller on the IDE busses! DMA on.

- check that DMA is on for everything
- if your CDRs are fast, check FIFO size. 4MB should cover all problems,
however, that's default.
- do a sync before starting, clean dirty buffers
- try 2.4.19-pre10ac2, there are a few scheduler things which might help.
I'm just mentioning this, it works for me, but so did 2.4.9, 2.4.16,
2.4.18, etc.
It's something on your system, I haven't seen it over many burns.
