Cemetery Report May 25, 2008 "do dead people think outside the box?"
List user 6/12/2008, 2:49:44 AM Hit the road at 5:40am. Yawn......................... 6:47am brings me to East Hill Cemetery on Rt. 222, west of Cortland , N.Y. Basically, headed south down Rt. 81 to the Cortland exit. Hiram Sears died Nov 22, 1855(< obviously, this guy was not a Craftsman product guaranteed for life..............) age 40 years. Noah Carpenter died Oct 10, 1848 age 70 years. Oliver Hatch, Revolutionary War soldier, died Oct 10, 1848 age 70 years. Justus Steadman died May 27, 1843 age 78 years. Ludy Bancroft died May 18, 1830 age 21 years. Hepsey wife of Bwezela Little died Jan 23, 1846 age 56 years. I might explain this cemetery is surrounded by farm land and cows etc. And now here comes the lonely farm dog that lives only to play fetch. Each and every time he fetches the stick I toss, he brings it right back and kind of tosses it right to my feet. During this cemetery visit it was non stop stick throwing and the dog wouldn't let me forget it either. Twice I threw it and it got stuck in a tree and the dog looked at me like, you dummy. At the very end the dog went over and immersed itself in a long thin tracker tire rut in the mud that was full of water and then came running back to me with a stick. That's when I beat it to the car in lieu of a soggy wet muddy dog.....................trick. Walked .2 miles in this "Garden of Rest" and vacated at 7:23am 7:26am brings me to Gorton, N.Y. on Clark Road, Groton Rural Cemetery.
