The stack of pancakes were great and before I left I went out front to sit at a table there and drink my final coffee. Got talking to a local out there and was informed about local cemeteries. 8:52AM brings me to Salem, N.Y. This is the Old Burial Ground for mostly Revolutionary Soldiers. On Rt. 22. 63F/18C. George R. Safford was killed on the Steam Boat "Empire" July 15, 1858 age 19 years. Margaret wife of Capt. Peter Crookshank died June 6, 1848 age 76 years (P) (< Jack alert) Rebecca wife of Jordan Sprague died April 25, 1851 57 years. To the memory of Mr. John Bryton who died in two days ficknefs(< old English "sickness") on the 25th year of his age 1793. Colin McFarland Born Parish Kilarden, Scotland Aug 12, 1778 and died Feb 7, 1858. In memory of Sarah widow of Pelatiah Fitch died Aug 18, 1835 age 77 years. Ephraim M. Nish died Feb 15, 1852 age 46 years. John Adams died March 7, 1851. John H. Proudfit 1835-1835. I guess someday a trip to Syria would be good, if they don't lie? The Great Mosque in Damascus, is supposed to be the home of the head of John the Baptist. Hmmmmmmmmm Supposedly, to the west of Damascus and close to the Lebanon border is the burial place of Abel, the son of Adam. < Now, Abel was supposed to be the first person to die, he is also the first person to be buried. < A cemetery lovers dream find................LOL John Wright died March 27, 1802 21 years. I wanted to go.............. Islam claims Noah put the remains of Adam and Eve on the Ark. The parents of humanity. Noah reburied them in Jerusalem. But, others say the legs of Adam are supposedly buried under the Dome of the Rock. decisions......decisions. Here lies the mortal remains of Mathew McWhorter who departed this life Dec 19, 1804 in the 79th year of his age. The righteous is held in everlasting remembrance. Peter Crookshank died June 16, 1856 age 84 years.(P) Last thing I did here was two death head rubbings as they were so unique. Walked 1.2 miles in this "Removed From Duty Rest" and vacated at 11:17AM. 11:34AM brings me to Holy Cross Cemetery, Salem, N.Y. established 1869, still sunny and 68F/17C. Edward T. Latulippe US Army Born June 23, 1940 and died Sept 15, 2004. Niholas Dardis died 1861 age 54 years. Christians claim Adams skull is buried under the site of Jesus's crucifixion. Must be a huge burial as Islam claims Adam was over 100 feet tall. Rose Murtha died May 4, 1899 age 81 years. James Anglim Born Nov 1826 and died July 14, 1912. Daniel Toman 1816-1874. Julia Earley died Feb 5, 1902 age 70 years. Thomas Cudmore Born at Killagoon, Co. Clare, Ireland died Dec 22, 1836.(< Remember, all this is spelled as they are spelled on the headstone. Abigail Hazard daughter of Robert Ralston Esq. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died July 9, 1874 age 71 years. In old Europe, it was believed that the soul of the first corpse buried in a new graveyard would belong to the devil. John Williams Proudfit D.D. Born Sept 22, 1803 and died March 9, 1870. Marvin Fox Andrews Born Nov 2, 1837 at Wallingford, Vermont and died Sept 15, 1909 at Marshalltown, Iowa. Hon. As for the above I normally see old counties mentioned that don't even exist anymore, but here is a guy that lived in New York State, and that section of the state, now is part of Vermont State. Rev.
