Ernie : Appointment of an ambassador to the Muslim world is a good idea, actually. And I said so, clearly enough, I thought. But what justifies special treatment for Islam ? Sure, there is more trouble in the Muslim world than in the Catholic world, say, but how can an American head of state justify special consideration for one religion ? Apparently it is natural for Obama to think of Islam as deserving an envoy while ignoring Buddhism, the Catholic Church, etc, etc. Also it apparently does not occur to him that there are critics of Islam who are waiting for him to show obvious pro-Muslim preference in his policy decisions. Which he has just done Actually a call for impeachment is premature at this time. However, as a "futures contract" this seems unavoidable, Obama wants not the Islamization of America per se , but preparation for the rise of Islam as America's "second faith," as if that would be all for the good-- instead of a serious and dangerous threat. So far I have more-or-less held my fire, In fat, and to the chagrin of DB and maybe some others, I have generally been ( at least silently ) supportive of his economic policies, They aren't all for the best, and we can expect rather major inflation in 2010, but, OK, he is cleaning up the gargantuan mess created by George Bush, or mostly created by George Bush. For which he has my gratitude. Keynesianism is far from perfect but it is so obviously superior to free trade doctrines that I am genuinely thankful. But now begins WH religious and social policy in earnest. Probably it won't make much difference, but I must speak out in strong opposition. While it is far from certain at this time, it looks like my view of BHO will become equivalent to that of my dismal opinions of Wm Clinton and GWB as immoral cretins.
