Like it or not, we have a major Muslim problem in the world. You may not want us to make peace with Muslim nations, but given that most Americans think that's a good idea, trying to get on their good side seems a logical step. Except for the last part, although I want to get on the good side of Arabs, Iranians, etc, but not as Muslims, no problem from my vantage. But it doesn't matter if there are few issues at the moment with Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, etc, the appearance of fairness really needs to be established off the bat, and this is not the case, is it ? An ambassador to Buddhists, or whomever, would still be useful, so why not appoint one ? And NOT appointing one, while it may not be all that much of a big deal at the moment, would seem certain to be asking for trouble down the line --precisely because of injustice , perceive unfairness, etc. And what happens when there IS a crisis involving Hindus ? Or Catholics ? Sure, we can improvise, but why not be put in that position in the first place ? And even if the sheer quantity of problems merits some sort of attention be given to Islam, how does it occur to BHO to exclude other religions ? How does he figure that makes good sense ? It can only be perceived that way by him if he regards Islam as special, . Muslim style, as if the only faiths that count are the 3 Muslim-approved "religions of the book." The others aren't as good, aren't as true ( and probably are partly or mostly false ), and don't deserve the same consideration. With this new policy how is the WH going to avoid this impression ? Good idea, in other words, incredibly stupid simultaneously. No problem at all to picture Obama in his African Muslim garb. How many others now picture him this way ? I had forgotten all about that picture until now. My best guess is that most others had forgotten about it also. Not any more.
