Cults are absolutely based on some fundamental desire that humans have to submit themselves to a faith--to find emotional, intellectual, spiritual worth thereby. I think it is important to recognize that base desire as a bias, and keep it in mind. It is equally important to not make the opposite mistake of rejecting faith because of this bias. The important thing to me as a Christian is that my faith isn't based on Scripture. It is based on a relationship that I have with my Father God--a relationship that is both personal and corporate with my fellow believers. That relationship is the basis for my belief in Scripture, not the other way around. -Kevin
