Chris :
I somehow doubt this new plan will get very far, but it is worth pointing
out
that football has become more like soccer at he college level. No more tie
games,
instead overtime is now the equivalent of free kicks in soccer I don't know
what else was the inspiration for the new system.

I support Billy's ideas. I think they are brilliant. Let's have soccer
be more like football. You get a whole new dimension of strategy.
Although, as David points out, it would be a hard sell.

Great concept. How about six points when it gets in the net, a one point
bonus afterward

if there is a free kick from X distance into the goal ? Each team would
have the option

of kicking the ball over the goal from mid field for 3 points. If a player
  for a team

with the ball happens to fall down behind the net, or gets tripped up, 2
points

Yeah, that might be worthwhile.

I like your idea :-)

As difficult as it is to score, you would think that the goals would be
worth more.

( 1 ) Does anyone know the percentage of World Cup soccer games

where the score is not 1-0 or 1-1 or 2-1 ? Is it greater than 2 % ?

( 2 ) Does anyone know of a more pointless ( pun intended ) game ?

Just thought I'd ask
