The biggest problem with DSL is the telco. You pay the telco $300+ per
month for the local loop vs. $30 per month for a DSL line. Which do you
think has higher priority? If the T1 goes down, it may be down for minutes
or a couple hours. The DSL line could go down for days, as there are 0
service level guarantees with DSL. Now, that may _never_ happen, but where
would you be if it did?

Concentric and it was terrible service. The second was UUnet and their
service has been great! I don't recall it going done. We get 1 Mb both ways
for $399/mo - which is much cheaper than a T1 at $1200-1800/mo. Even a
burstable T1 at $799/mo cost more. I think the key is going to a quality ISP
instead of the cheapest in the barrel and having a good phone line to run it
on.

you the same up and down so that shouldn't be a consideration. Like bill
said, you will have to consider your local providers, your access speeds,
and your gauranteed up times. I suggest checking around in your local
community with others that are using your local providers of each of these
services. I have used T1 connections and find that there is very little down
time, usually only during lightning storms. ADSL has become wide spread
throughtout my local community and I find it has quite a deal of down time,
mostly due to upgrades to the phone systems.
