Start > Run > odbc32ad

System DSN > Add

select Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.0 and click Finish

Now ..

Give your DSN a name.
Descrition doesn't matter
Fill in username and pass
Fill in a name for the DB server. It can be whatever you want, but you need
to remember it because you will use it again in the second DSN.
You can leave database name blank.
Fill in the path to your database file and don't worry about the other
options.
Then, click on Options and fill in any command line parameters you need.
These don't have much of anything to do with getting 2 databases to run
under the same engine, so unless you need to change memory allocations or
something, you could probably ignore this. The only other thing to change
in this section is to make sure "Autostop database" is not checked.

Now .. follow the above steps for your second DSN. Remember to put the same
"Server name" in both DSNs. Barring unusual circumstances, that's it!
ColdFusion should then be able to connect to both databases running under
the same DB server automagicly. :)

It takes all of 5 minutes. I still don't see what your DBA's prob with it
is ;)

Subject: RE: Help!: Sybase SQL Anywhere, 2 databases on one machine.

| Ok guys..it seems that I do need some specific help here for next week.
|
| How would I set up two databases, one called MediaNetworkServer.dbf, and
the
| other called LVAA.dbf on one NT machine, using Sybase 5.03. My background
is
| in SQL, I know about the ODBC setup in NT, how to create DSNs for MS
Access,
| and Oracle etc.
|
| I am competent with windows NT.
|
| It seems that the database fellow 'suggested' that they 'bring in the
| programmer guy' to fix the problem.
| *shakes head*
|
| I knew this was going to happen.
| ^_^
