Hey all!

A job of mine is getting tied up due to someone else not doing their job.
:(

I installed a CF application for a company, written by someone else. I
configured it, set up the ODBC Database..and their Database guy set up the
Sybase client.

And it worked fine after I made some global variable changes etc. I posted
about my experience with theh sessionid variable from that application
actually.

Now, hwoever, it seems they have a second database running on the same
server. The Database guy is saying that two databases can't 'run' at the
same time, as one needs to be shut down to allow access to the other.

I believe he started up some sort of Sybase server..then a Sybase Client for
that specific database, in order for ODBC to connect to it.

Now I know absolutely nothing about Sybase, how to set it up..or how it
works.
And my handling the administration of Sybase was not part ..and IS not part
of any agreement I had with them.

But of course they can't test the application, until they can get the
databases to run concurrently.

Which leaves me and my continuing development for them(dependent on them
figuring out their new user requirements based on the existing app) up in
the air....so its now in my own best interest to try to suggest a solution
(and suggest they hire a new database administrator).

I KNOW that there MUST be a way to get those two databases to run at the
same time.
Can any of you with Sybase experience either message me offlist or reply and
tell me what would be involved?

The version is Sybase Anywhere 5.03 I believe.

thanks,
:-\
