I'm..not following you.

Eating meat that wasn't raised to be killed and eaten?

You mean we should go run out and hunt and kill bears, deer, wild pigs etc.
in the forest? ^_^
You have the cows that are bred for milk...and you have the cows and pigs
that are bred for meat.

The problem is, as you said, that getting that meat to us to consume is
expensive. Hence the reason for feeding the animals their own carcasses and
bodily fluids in the first place.

I'm not a vegetarian...I don't think that humans were meant to be
vegetarian. We are omnivores, and that is what our digestive system is
designed to handle...meat and plant food.

As evidenced by your teacher, even the vegetarians like the taste of meat.

I also don't much care about killing the animals in the first place. *shrug*
We kill non-sentient creatures to live..its a fact of life.
Whether those creatures are animals who's pain etc we can relate to in some
way, or plants who's mechanisms for acknowledging pain and methods of
'communication' are so alien to us that we feel removed.

But it is still killing...and we're still eating.
Whether Kosher/Halal..or Big Ole Unca Bob's Butcher Shop.

I had a teacher in my college days who swore he could make a veggie
burger that tasted just like a hamburger. I don't understand why you'd
want to give up eating burgers if you're just going to try to make
something else taste like the. The same teacher swore that the vegetarian
ways of he and his wife had absolutely no influence over their son , who
wouldn't eat beef.
