Actually, killing in a kosher manner is done so the animal feels as little
pain as possible. The knife must be perfectly sharp (really, really sharp),
the cut must be very exact and it slices a nerve junction and a major artery
at one shot. The animal is dead instantly.
Once that's done, the blood must be totally drained and covered with earth.
The meat is salted and all the veins are removed. (I'm not sure Kosher Filet
Minion is possible at all).
And this is all on the killing side. On the eating side a blessing has to be
made over the food. The blessing is 'local' to the person and I'm not sure
if there's a prayer said when the animal is killed. On the other hand, from
what I hear from Muslims I know, it's the prayer or sanctification of the
animal to God when its killed that makes it Halal. The process of killing
something Kosher is enough.

If God wanted us to be vegetarians he wouldn't have made animals out of
meat.
