*cough*
Ok..let me see if I can sift through this.

FACT:

1) The Surgeon General stated in their report that Violent Computer Games Do
Not Cause Violence.
"But the real Satcher report (released in late January, but only made widely
available this month) defied all those predictions. While saying that media
violence was not innocuous, it summarized all the existing scientific
research to date as supporting the belief that the actual effect of exposure
to movie violence on long-term criminal behavior was minor, and confined to
the relatively young. As far as games went, there was no good research yet,
at all.

"Theoretically, the influence of these interactive media might well be
greater than that of television and films, which present a passive form of
exposure, but there are no studies to date of the effects of exposure to
these types of media violence and violent behavior."

Basing their conclusions solely on the scientific literature, Satcher's team
said they simply could not find statistically significant evidence of any
more than a weak indirect tie between the movies children watched and their
behavior. "Some studies suggest that long-term effects exist, and there are
strong theoretical reasons that this is the case. But many questions
remain." Parents and educators should by trying to help children become more
critical consumers of games and TV, the report says. "

FACT:
2) Lieberman and Ashcroft have campaigned on a platform that suggests that
Violent Computer Games and other forms of entertainment is what is causing
and contributing to the violence amongst America's youth.
This is in direct conflict with the findings of the government's own
research arm on this issue.

FACT:
3) The FTC Report, another recognised government report states:
"Regarding causation, however, the research findings are less conclusive.
Researchers can not agree on whether exposure to violent television content
actually causes or increases aggressive or violent behavior in children. A
majority of researchers firmly argues that violent television content is
more likely than not to increase aggressive behavior among certain children.
A minority argues that various methodological problems in the research
render it impossible to come to that conclusion. Still others ride the fence
and state that the evidence is suggestive of a causal link but is not
persuasive.
There is a general agreement among researchers that exposure to media
violence alone does not cause a child to commit acts of violence, and that
media violence is not the only, or even the most important, factor
contributing to youth violence"

What FACTS do you have to back your 'moral' point of view?
I'd like you to explain how my views are not based on fact, but rather on
emotion.

Forget the emotional slant of what I write..I'm a Trinidadian..that's the
way we are.
I'll argue bitterly, cynically and sometimes sarcastically with you and then
happily treat you to several beers later.

And I ended with this FACT:

4) That violence in Innercity Public schools, and minority areas of America
has been occurring now for quite some time. Only with Columbine, which
occurred in a Middleclass area did it suddenly become an apple in the
Media's eye..and the fault of the Entertainment Industry.

We now have a case before the courts blaming the Entertainment Industry for
what happened, and seeking millions upon millions of dollars in damages.

Those are the Facts, Jim, and my reasons for mentioning them.

Trust me, if there were any proof that playing Quake had an overwhelming
causative effect on some kid getting a gun and shooting his classmate..then
I could understand the current frenzy.
But this simply is not true.

In a timing,

A moral society will be self policing -meaning that the citizenry will take
care of itself. Its not up to the
government. Angel, wake up and quit living in your fantasy game world. The
world is not black and white as your comments make it seem. You advocate
throwing out the baby with the bathwater. You speak of facts but your
comments are nothing more than emotional parrotings with no proof one way or
the other. Facts matter.
