Ok,

I've blown off Flash for as long as I can, it's time to learn something
about it. One of the things I've never liked about it is that reading text
generated in Flash always make me think I forgot to put on my glasses, it's
so fuzzy. Setting that annoying effect aside for the moment, I have a
fairly large contract looming that could probably make good use of
Flash....at least I think it might. The site will be targeted primarily to
middle and high school students, but should also appeal to educators and
parents. It will be related to providing information on careers and jobs.

So, I'm wondering if you all might be able to suggest a *brief* list of good
Flash resources...mainly how to get started, and particularly, examples of
practical applications of using Flash (especially when combined with
ColdFusion). Yes, I've seen flashcfm.com, but I'm not there yet - the
tutorials look interesting, but I need to know some basics of Flash first.
BTW, I don't consider Flash movies of ninja fighters or silly animations
good practical uses - some might find them entertaining for awhile, but they
have no practical value (other than possibly experience gained in creating
them). I'm really interested in good business applications using Flash.

Any pointers? Hints? Gentle pushes in the right direction? Ok, how 'bout a
shove?

TIA,
