"An eye for an eye?" Do we really want to live in a country where the
government has been authorized to maim people? A couple years ago, a state
legislator in Louisiana (I believe) put forth a bill called "Smoke A Joint,
Lose a Limb". The idea of a law like this scares me to death! And I don't
even use the stuff! Is anybody else disturbed by the fact that the state has
the authority and power to kill us? I'm not saying that there are not crimes
that deserve that punishment, but do we REALLY want the government to be
doing it?
