beards? check (for the guys)
Mugs of ale? check (for most programmers but not for me)
sitting in the dark underground? half check
'mining' for data? check
pride on building something new and solid? Check! Check! Check!
swinging axes and beating down on out enemies? Wellllll, we'll have to see
about that. ;)
I guess programmers are Dwarves.
As long as we're working on stereotypes here and we're all adults, I'm
going to be rather blunt. When I was working with Ices I knew things were
status quo when we had a gay project manager. I think we went through 3 and
they were all gay. Once we lost that, it was a clear sign that the company
was dead (other than the main person who ran the tech division and made
money was gone). I believe the term fairy is now an 'OK' one, so do we put
project managers down as fairies (both strait and gay)?
I'm not going to start trying to map corporations to ogres or anything of
the sort. Don't want to add more fuel to the fire. :)
