Congrats Todd !!
If I was you I'd chase the Oracle certifications as it probably has the most
real value, both in terms of salary and usefulness. Although the MCSE
should bounce back a little since all the millions who certified on NT 4.0
will expire this year (alas we knew them well) and they have to re-certify
(tell me about it, a 4-hour exam which I hear has a very low pass rate).
Just as a question to y'all,
Are people cross-training into new technologies at the moment, like taking
Java classes etc.?
Is anyone taking non-tech classes? It might be interesting for the list to
hear what people are into !
;-)

Subject: I almost forgot to mention, "yay me!!"
I got a new job, everyone, woohoo!. I start this coming Wednesday. The job
includes a pay raise, a drastic increase in benefits, and as many free
certifications as I can complete, including MCSD, CIW, CCNA, MCSE(+I), A+,
Oracle, and others. I'll still be doing CF stuff, but I *think* I'm the
only CF certified person there. Since they are a training facility, maybe I
can convince them to help me get my CF Instructor certification and add
those services to the company's offerings. I'm rather shy (wouldn't believe
it by reading the embarrassing crap I write in here would you? heh) and
public speaking isn't my forte, but I still think it would be cool to do
some training.
Anyway .. just wanted to share the good news. The only bad news is that I
have to wear a tie. Evil things. Whomever decided that men would look
fashionable with a rope tied around their necks must have been a woman.
Think about it. Ties can be deadly around fax machines, printers,
photocopiers, and paper shredders, and these things are often found in
places where ties are prolific. The easy solution is to toss it over your
shoulder while working with any equipment, but the things are conveniently
made of silk, which causes them to slip off and fall back into place. It's
a conspiracy, I tell you! Evil, evil things ..
Here's hoping I survive my first week!
Todd
