TigerDirect.com is a great place to look - lots of PCs of all stripes (from
PII 300s on up) at decent prices.

Compgeeks.com sometimes also has decent barebones kits, but they tend to be
thrown together in an attempt to liquidate stock.

I love the Shuttle systems, but haven't bought one myself yet (I had several
FIC SFF pcs and just couldn't justify it).  When you're looking at them
remember to note how much comes onboard: they may seem pricey, but all you
need to add (generally) is memory, drives and a CPU.

Thanks for the advice.  What I'll almost certainly end up doing is
buying a barebones kit. For whatever reason, that seems to be cheaper
than buying the mobo, processor, fan, ram separately, even though I
don't need a new case.

I'm not looking for high performance, just ... um ... the ability to
play MPEGs without them skipping.  :-)
