This should not be used to describe all Christians, or other people who
practice religion (Koran, etc.)
That is exactly what religion is - a set of beliefs, values and
practices...our guide is the bible.
True Christianity does not promote war, or fighting or belittling someone
else's beliefs becasue they don't agree with yours (which I have seen quie a
bit of on since joining this list)...but peace, harmony love and compassion
for life and your fellow man...I know that sounds "flowery" but I think
whatever religion your in or not in, those latter values shoud be our
purpose, not as jews, christians, muslims, atheists, etc, but as fellow
human beings.
Whatever happened to THOSE values???
I have been on this list for not more than a month and the attitudes that
have been displayed is also a major problem in society today. Everyone does
not agree on the same thing and never will, but we should be able to have a
decent conversation and discuss our differences without fighting.
For example...someone mentioned the word "scary" when describing President
Bush meeting with Christian radicals. I questioned the word scary becasue I
was really interested in hearing their view point...one of the ladies on the
list IMMEDIATELY got defensive and jumped down my throat. But Michael,
explained it to me in a way, that made me think..."You know, they're
right"...
That is my problem with the world....why does everyone have to be so
hostile????
Furthermore, if a little man came down from the moon and said, "You know
what guys, there is no God, there will be no rapture, all of this is a joke
and you can live the way you want to live with no consequence...I would
still practice Christianity becasue I go to bed with a smile on my face, I
have peace in my life, I am happy and full of life and love and I know for a
fact that it is becasue of my faith. I would change a thing.
BUT, that's just my opinion....

Just a quick comment Mike, I'm seeing a fundamental (pardon the pun) mistake
on your part, you are assuming rationality from a group who completely
denigrates rational thinking and education. Its in the Bible so of course it
must be true (how many wings does a grasshopper have for instance) and
therefore the law.
