That's where I generally align myself.  I'm not against responsible gun ownership and users.  But I don't see anywhere where gun ownership was guaranteed to be cheap, unlicensed and/or anonymous.  I do believe in a one-strike and your out.  If you have proved to be not responsible in your gun ownership, then I don't think you should get multiple chances.


If one does not mind forking out the cash for background checks, training, a license, extra insurance and possible liability if misused as well as the record keeping of the ownership of the gun, go for it.


I do think there is something to the economics that making guns more expensive and rarer does reduce their use in street crimes.  But that is different then out and out bans.
