Abortion does give men less say over the pregnancy than women, which is an unresolvable problem.  There is a movement of men's rights advocates who want to be able to have paper abortions - the man signs a paper that he wants to abort the baby during the first three months of pregnancy and is absolved of all responsibility.  Its interesting, but it is NOT equivalent to ending the pregnancy.  The kid is the one who suffers from it.

Dana, calling "abortion" "murdering our children" is a religious concept, imo, not common sensical.  A fetus is not a "child".

Michael, someone recently asked me if religious jews were anti-abortion and I didn't know.  Is your opinion typical?

My mother has a heart condition and was not supposed to have any children. The
doctors wanted to abort my brother due to this. She went through with the birth
  and we're both fine.
Was she in medical danger? Yes. Were the doctors right in saying that the
children (myself included) should not be born? Yes. Was she right in making a
personal choice to have us? Yes. No one forced her to abort, they told her
they're professional opinion. No one should force someone to have or not have a
child, only give their professional (or religions) opinion. The final choice is
  ALWAYS the persons.

Does that give a woman the right to have an abortion over the objections of her
husband? Well, he can't force her to have the kid. All he can do it express his
desires and if she goes ahead or doesn't, he can just leave. This of course
brings up the whole issue of responsibility if the father wants the abortion and
the mother doesn't. Should he be forced to care for, support or whatever this
kid he didn't want. Even more controversy and issues. One issue breeds another
  and another and and and

  > what's the definition of a medical emergency? That's the rub. I had two
pregnancies that each posed a serious risk to my health. I elected to continue
them, and came away with no permanent consequences. But it was my decision and
had it been otherwise it would have been due to my decision. Makes all the
difference in the world. I would be very much against some panel telling women
oh no, you have to continue this pregnancy because bla bla is not a serious
  enough risk to your health.
