Subject: Re: Conversation Topic - Abortion
Unless I have been sleep-posting while possessed by anti-abortion protesters :) I don't think I did??? "Murdering our children"??? Nuh-uh. Not in this thread anyway, I've been saying it's the mother's choice and that is what I believe. In the Catholicism thread a while back, I did say that I thought abortion is a sin, and maybe even murder. This is, yes, a religious concept, expressed in a religious thread.
But I immediately again said that it is not up to me to decide whether it is available. Thank God. I don't think I am up to the responsibility, nor do I think is anyone else. I am against all restrictions on abortion, at least in the first trimester, maaaybe into the early second trimester. In the second and third it becomes more reasonable to balance the interest of the child against the mother's, if this is an issue. And this is the current practice, actually.
On the other hand -- if at some point I said "child" then hey, you know what? It is a child. Deal with it. It may be necessary to abort that child, but it is a child. It is alive and is a non-adult human. The necessity could be tragic. For that child, for sure, right? No question.
It's like steak is dead cow :) Unpleasant but true, and I am not going to deny either one just because I eat steak and oppose restrictions on abortion.
