I was um... being mean to my computer... making it burn cds and play music and search the hard drive all at the same time and, you know, generally jump through hoops... definitely way too much for a four or five year old computer... when it cut off and on reboot disclaimed all knowledge of windows. I told it to go head and load windows and got:
a device or resource required by VFAT is not present or not available. VFAT cannot continue loading.
System halted.
so....I guess I am gonna switch to the faster machine. (Getting online from the antique in the reception area.) Since hardware seems to be on my agenda tonight -- the faster machine doesn't have a modem -- anyone have an opinion as to whether 2000 Pro will be able to see the files on the old w98 drive if I re-jumper it and put in in the new machine as a secondary? I think the operating systems can talk to each other (?) I do get a listing with the dir command.
