Yep.  We've got a number of external cases around here.  Most are for
2.5" IDE or SCSI.  We've got one Maxtor enclosure which is currently on
its 3rd drive (we just swap them out when we need a clean one for a
backup or something).  We also have "nonenclosures" which are the "bits
and bobs" without a case per se -- just the parts hanging off the back
of the drive itself, which is nice for grabbing a client's data to a
clean drive to bring home to burn to DVD or something.

So, if the drive's ok but the controller is toast, you can replace that
for around $35.  If the controller is ok but the drive is toast, you can
replace that for going drive rates.
