<CF-Doug's pontification of the day>

One characteristic of "those people" is that the combatants mix in with the
general populous, which, of course includes women and children, fathers,
mothers, grandparents, etc.  Therefore in defense, when those are attacked, a
portion of the general populace gets in the way and are victims as well.

This state of affairs is gut-wrenching to any people who have a moral repulsion
against the killing or injuring so-called innocents.  The Arab press, as well as
the US press widely reports on this and centers on the so-called innocents for
propaganda and sensationalist purposes.  I notice little emphasis on the
innocents that they are targeting as part of the insurgency.  I really believe
that most of the Arabs in that area do not place the same values on human life
as most Americans do.  They have no compunction at all with killing or
slaughtering innocents, mainly because out of cowardice, they know the innocents
do not fight back, and it does have its propaganda value. The big decision of
any opponent of the insurgents or terrorists is whether not to be as ruthless as
they are.  If we are not as ruthless as they are, then the insurgency and
terrorists have technically won, at any rate can indefinitely prolong the
battle.
Terrorism is the new term for criminals and murderers who recruit from the
ignorant by offering them a place in paradise.  They couch their philosophy is
religious terms to make them appear to be crusaders and thus a legitimate force.
Their financial support is vast, and continues.

The US is currently so widely split on ideology and this split is being pandered
to by the media and the Christian right that no clear solution can be made
apparent.  There is less and less trust of any government or agency by the
general populace.  Many of us are more concerned with paying the medical bills
for our children, the safety of our 401K plans, and not suffering from
exportation of our jobs, or reduction in compensation in order to "compete with
the third world."

Michael Moore has in no way even hinted that he supports terrorism, Al Qaeda, or
Saddam Loyalists, his point was that he was personally opposed to our invasion
of the country of Iraq, especially based on the misrepresentations advanced (and
are still being made) by the incumbent administration.  His view is that the
incumbent administration in the US is solely focused on two things.  One being
personal enrichment of its friends, and, or course re-election.  He produces
interviews and records other events to support his view. So far, none of those
events can be refuted.  One can disagree with his conclusions, however, my
suggestion is for each person after being made aware of the "other side" is to
draw your own conclusions, no matter if they agree with MM or not.

Again, in the case of the right, and the so-called conservative media, they have
had to resort to personal attacks on the person, as they cannot refute the
documentation Moore has presented.  Commentators, again are in a complete tizzy
having been caught with their "pants down" but continue to enjoy the support of
not only big money, but approximately one-half of the populace who cannot take
the broadcasts with a grain of salt, and choose, in their own ignorance, to
swallow the equally slanted commentators' line as gospel.  Added to this
equation is the obvious corruption of the Congressional leadership and the
scenario is complete.

Even worse are the single-issue voters who will support anyone based on a single
issue, such as "He is a Christian and has Christian values"  All this while
their jobs are being taken away, and the country is building debt that their
descendants will not be able to repay.  It even seems like the philosophies of
the conservatives is "me, me, me" while the liberals are more concerned with
"everyone is equal"  The conservative re-election platform is more concerned
with creating an atmosphere of fear among the common populace, while at the same
time accumulating incredible riches at their expense.

Know your enemy, and your enemy is not me.

Hopefully the foregoing will stimulate this thread and give it new life. :-)

Doug

Well, that is what they tell us, that the uprising is all Saddam
  loyalists and al-Qaeda.
